General Motors Co. is teasing its new Cadillac ELR plug-in electric luxury coupe that will be unveiled next month at the North American International Auto Show.

An image of the extended-range electric ELR was distributed Tuesday, which included text that read "its confidently sculpted lines are as dramatic as the technology they conceal — a state-of-the-art electric propulsion system featuring a ranging-extending, gas-powered generator.

"One look at the ELR, and you'll realize that it's as much a powerful statement as it is a statement about power."

The ELR, the first two-door car built at Detroit-Hamtramck since the 1999 Cadillac Eldorado, is the production version of the Cadillac Converj. The Converj was revealed as a concept and received much praise during the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
