AAPC Statement on U.S. Trade Agreement with Brazil

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Governor Matt Blunt, president of the American Automotive Policy Council, issued the following statement on the Trump administration’s mini trade deal with Brazil:

“We are monitoring the Trump administration’s announcement that a mini trade deal has been agreed to with Brazil that includes commitments relating to best regulatory practices.  As the two nations consider a broader trade pact, we urge the Administration to build on these commitments and include acceptance of vehicles manufactured to U.S. standards.  Doing so will ensure that U.S. automakers can compete on a level playing field against their EU competitors, given Brazil’s negotiated comprehensive trade agreement with the EU.”

The American Automotive Policy Council (AAPC) represents American Automakers FCA US LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Company. AAPC is a Washington, D.C. association representing the common public policy interests of its member companies.
