AAPC Statement on Canadian Aluminum Tariffs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Governor Matt Blunt, president of AAPC, issued the following statement on the Trump administration’s efforts to impose tariffs on Canadian aluminum.

“We oppose efforts to reimplement tariffs on aluminum imports from Canada.  This move would hurt American automakers and the hundreds of thousands of workers they employ at a time when the industry can least afford it.  We urge the administration to continue to work to craft robust trade agreements like the USMCA that have the potential to benefit the American economy, and refrain from imposing tariffs on key trading partners.”

The American Automotive Policy Council (AAPC) represents American Automakers FCA US LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Company. AAPC is a Washington, D.C. association representing the common public policy interests of its member companies.
