American Automakers Statement on President Trump’s Announcement on Reciprocal Trade and Tariffs

Washington, D.C. – American Automotive Policy Council President Matt Blunt issued the following statement today on the announcement by President Trump on reciprocal trade and tariffs.

“An integrated supply chain is vital to the success and competitiveness of Ford, GM, and Stellantis, their customers, and the 236,500 Americans employed by these iconic companies.  We support President Trump’s efforts to consider the entire global trade situation, including both tariff and non-tariff barriers. In the meantime, Ford, GM, and Stellantis continue to believe that vehicles and auto parts that meet the USMCA requirements should not be subject to additional tariffs.”

The American Automotive Policy Council (AAPC) represents American Automakers Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company and Stellantis. AAPC is a Washington, D.C. association representing the common public policy interests of its member companies.
